5 Natural Ways to Flavor H20

There is no better drink for your body than some H20. Though you may be tempted to drink soda's, juice or sweet tea - know that those drinks will only set you back in any of your health goals. I know what you are thinking, drinking water is just so dang boring! I get ya. It is hard to get used to especially if you are used to sugary beverages.  Something that will help you drink more H20 and less artificially flavored drinks is to instead use natural ingredients.  Learn 5 simple and all natural ways to flavor your water and love it.

FRUIT infusions work best when you allow them to steep for at least 4 hours.  You can mix a few fruits at a time and you'll only need a few slices. Fruit can last you up to a few weeks in the refrigerator, making it easy and economical for your to keep.  Simply squeezing lemon, orange, grapefruit, and lime can be enough!

HERBS can provide unique flavoring to your water. Not only that but herbs are also jammed packed with benefits for your body. Herbs can stabilize your digestion and soothe your stomach.  A few favorite herbs include mint, basil, rosemary, cilantro and thyme.

SPICES add an extra punch to your water as well as provide an array of benefits for your health. Favorites to add include Ginger, Cinnamon, Cardamom, & Clove - for best flavor and taste use raw or dry over powder.

VEGETABLES. Though tomatoes and cucumbers are technically fruits, most of us think of them as vegetables  and they also help flavor your water and will boost your drinks with all natural vitamins supporting your immune system.  Other vegetables that make great drinks include bell peppers & celery.

TEA is one of the easiest ways to flavor your water. Tea can be infused in cold or hot water and when using cold water just steep it for longer. Tea's are full of antioxidants which are known to support overall health. My favorite tea's to infuse in cold water are from the Celestial Seasonings Fruit Tea Sampler (caffeine free) and if you want some with caffeine try these, so delicious!

ESSENTIAL OILS are one of the most convenient ways to flavor your water or other drinks. Use only 1-2 drops per cup and make sure that the oils you choose to use are safe to ingest. The only essential oils I personally recommend for ingestion are from the Young Living Vitality line. Essential oils will provide an strong boost of flavor and other health benefits. Infused water is best after 2-4 hours or after it has infused overnight. The length of time may depend on the ingredients used. Some fruits, herbs and vegetables last longer than others. For best flavor and benefits use glass or metal to infuse your water, do not add sugar and consume within 2-3 days. Using these natural ingredients not only will help you drink more H20 but add extra vitamins and minerals to your water.
