Throat Relief: 3 Easy & Natural Remedies
We are in the season where throat discomfort and sniffles are most common. Today, I would like to share with you a few natural options you can try to soothe your throat. Cough drops are what most of us use but they aren't always natural or necessary. Most cough drops have a high dose of sugar and syrups - unnecessary.
HOT TEA. You can try a variety of options for your tea and adjust to your liking. One of my favorite tea's during this time is hot water with 1 drop of lemon, peppermint and thieves essential oils. I also add honey to the mix. Other options include chamomile tea, peppermint tea, cinnamon tea and the most loved Throat Coat Tea. You can squeeze a fresh lemon or orange to your tea for an extra punch!
SALT WATER. Another effective option to soothe your throat is to gargle warm salted water. Boil some water and let cool. Add 2-3 tablespoons of table salt or sea salt and mix. You can also do the same with chamomile tea for an extra punch! Gargle every 2-3 hours, and do not swallow!
HOMEMADE SIMPLE REMEDY. Juice 3 oranges and 1 lemon. Add the juice to a pot and bring to a simmer. You can sprinkle some ginger for an extra punch, but it is not necessary. This warm all natural juice is recommended to take at night. Drink slowly and let the juice sit on your throat before swallowing.
My recommendation is to make these tea's a part of your routine during the winter months so that you can be most prepared. Stay healthy, and get to feeling better with these simple recipes. Please share any homemade or natural recipes you use to care for your throat!
